We left Ohe'o Gulch around 3 o'clock giving us plenty of time to make the stops we chose not to on the way to Hana. There are many, many small churches all over Hawaii - the road to/from Hana is not excepted. The missionaries did their jobs. The black sand beach at Wainapanapa State Park was as beautiful as everyone said. This is where we saw the much-maligned mongoose. Seems many years ago, someone got the not-so-bright idea of bringing in mongooses to help control mice. Problem: mice are nocturnal, mongeese are diurnal(daylight creatures). Now, they still have the mice and an ever increasing population of mongeese that are feasting on birds. Dinner was at Mama's Fish House . The best seafood I have ever eaten!!!
